D.G. Yuengling and Son, Inc. is the biggest seller of craft beer in the nation.
That's according to The Brewers Association, a trade group in Colorado, which today released its annual list of the nation's top craft brewing companies based on beer sales volume.
The Pottsville brewery is at the top of the list followed by the Boston Beer Co in Boston. Local favorite, Troegs Brewing Co. in Hershey is 44th on the list, while Pennsylvania-based Victory Brewing in Downingtown holds the 29th spot.

Yuengling was catapulted to the top of the list for the first time following a change in the definition of craft beer last year by the Brewers Association.
The non-profit group softened is stance against the use of rice and corn as adjuncts, thus allowing older breweries such as Yuengling and Straub Brewing in St. Marys, Pennsylvania to be considered craft brewers.
The Brewers Association also released a list of all brewers in the nation by sales volume. It was topped by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Miller Coors and Pabst Brewing Co.

- Deschutes Brewery, Bend, Oregon
- Stone Brewing Co., Escondido, California
- Minhas Craft Brewery, Monroe, Wisconsin
