Monica Chawla concentrates her practice in commercial litigation, representing individuals, businesses, shareholders, and executives in complex state and federal court matters.
Monica has experience with a wide variety of business disputes involving limited liability companies, corporations and partnerships; franchise law matters representing both franchisors and franchisees; breach of contract claims; business torts including fraud and breach of fiduciary duty; business divorce; breach of restrictive covenants, including non-compete provisions; trade secret misappropriation, intellectual property litigation involving trademarks, copyrights and patents; deceptive trade practices claims; and misappropriation of confidential information under Federal and State law.
Prior to joining the firm, Monica was a commercial litigation associate at a New York firm where she gained experience handling complex commercial and franchise matters in federal and state courts as well as representing clients in alternative dispute resolutions forums, nationwide.
Monica earned her J.D. from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center where she served as senior editor of the Touro Law Review and graduated as valedictorian of her class. While in law school, Monica operated her own small business and now utilizes her entrepreneurship skills to implement unique strategies to litigation disputes and to assist her clients through all phases of the litigation process. Monica is fluent in Italian, Spanish, Punjabi and Hindi.
