Associate
Peter G. Manakos focuses his practice on liquor law, litigation, and business law. As part of the firm’s Liquor Law Practice Group, he assists clients in the alcohol manufacturing, restaurant, and hospitality industries, as well as wholesalers and distributors, with regulatory compliance and litigation-related matters.
Peter has experience representing clients in a broad range of regulatory matters, including medical clinics and hospitals. His background includes legal research and drafting on issues involving breach of contract law and landlord-tenant matters outside the court.
Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, P.A., Peter served as an associate attorney at a boutique medical malpractice firm working on cases that involved discovery, drafting preliminary objections and motions, and depositions. While in law school, Peter interned at the University of Miami Health Network analyzing how HIPAA is involved when cameras are connected to an AI system. He reviewed and organized master service agreements for contracts under negotiation and anti-corruption matters. He also served as a student intern with the Children and Youth Law Clinic, managing cases for minors in the Florida foster care system, drafting motions and legal memoranda, and appearing in court
Peter received his B.S. in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh where he volunteered with the Children’s Miracle Network, Alzheimer’s Association, and Pitt Pantry. He received his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law where he concentrated in Business of Innovation, Law & Technology, with a focus in business compliance and sustainability. Peter was a judicial intern for the Hon. John M. Gallagher in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where he drafted legal memoranda and observed federal proceedings.
Peter grew up in a family-run restaurant and has had experience with the challenges of obtaining a liquor license and the PLCB’s regulations on the restaurant-business model. His experience being on the business-side of PA liquor law affords Peter the compassion and understanding of clients seeking their own licenses.
