Associate
Rich Birch is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Group where he represents clients in complex commercial disputes as well as in matters involving municipal law and labor and employment disputes.
Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, P.A., Rich worked as an associate at a boutique litigation New Jersey law firm where he regularly assisted with pleadings, discovery materials, and drafting motions and appeals related to municipal law, election law, affordable housing, labor and employment, and commercial issues. He has experience representing public entities on a variety of issues, including Open Public Records Act questions, premises liability, zoning and land use, labor relations, and civil rights. Rich regularly advocates for his clients at hearings and in depositions and has a deep understanding of various state and federal statutes, including the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, Tort Claims Act, Civil Rights Act and the Conscientious Employee Protection Act.
Rich earned his J.D. from the Seton Hall University School of Law and received his B.A. from The Catholic University of America. While attending law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Douglas E. Arpert, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of New Jersey. He also worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Mark P. Ciarrocca in the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey after earning his law degree. Rich is recognized in the 2023 and 2024 editions of New Jersey Rising Stars.
