Associate
Stuart L. Kossar has extensive knowledge of bankruptcy reorganization and litigation matters and regularly represents secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings. He has experience resolving lender liability issues as well as managing adversary proceedings, sanctions issues, claims objections and bankruptcy appeals.
Additionally, Stuart represents financial institutions, private investors, businesses, and individuals in all aspects of complex commercial litigation from pleading through appeals across a wide range of disputes. He has experience litigating on behalf of his clients in a range of real estate matters, including contested and uncontested commercial and residential foreclosures, landlord-tenant claims, lender liability claims, real estate litigation, commercial litigation, and appeals.
Prior to joining the firm, Stuart was a bankruptcy litigation associate at a commercial real estate firm in New York where he worked on bankruptcy matters from inception to conclusion and assisted clients as they prepared for trial, counseling individuals and institutional clients on litigation strategies.
Stuart earned his J.D. from Albany Law School and received his B.A. in History & International Relations from Lehigh University. He a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute and is an appointed member of the Mediation Panel for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of New York. Stuart is also a faculty member for Lawline and regularly speaks on bankruptcy topics of interest to other bankruptcy professionals.
Outside of his practice, Stuart spends his time serving as the head coach of a girls soccer team in his hometown.
