Thomas B. Slocum is a civil litigator with nearly two decades of experience in complex commercial business litigation in state and federal courts, focusing his practice on complex civil and commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense, insurance coverage and defense, and professional liability.
Thomas regularly manages all aspects of civil litigation, from discovery and motion practice, depositions and expert discovery, to frequent court appearances. He also defends white collar criminal investigations and assists clients in responding to subpoenas and other government requests for information. Thomas has additional experience with alternative dispute resolution, both in mediation and several arbitration forums. Thomas has extensive experience in insurance defense and coverage litigation, based on several years’ experience in-house at a global insurance carrier.
Thomas brings a business-focused approach to representing his clients. Thomas appreciates that every case is unique, just as every client’s business or legal situation is unique, and that every case requires a tailored and nuanced approach to bring successful results, whatever those results ultimately may be.
Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, P.A., Thomas was a partner with a New Jersey business law boutique focusing on commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense. Thomas also worked several years in-house at Chubb Insurance in the North American Office of General Counsel and Financial Lines Claims, developing experience handling professional liability claims and drafting policies for financial lines insurance. Thomas currently serves on his town’s Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Thomas received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law – Newark and his B.A. from Rutgers University. After graduating from law school, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Jose L. Fuentes in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
