Simeone Named Co-COO of New Jersey Women Lawyers Association

Annmarie Simeone, a Member of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been named Co-Chief Operating Officer of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association. She previously served on the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association Board of Directors as Co-Director of the Women’s Leadership Resources Committee for a two-year term from 2008 to 2010.

The New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) is an independent association of New Jersey women lawyers. Its mission is to retain women in the legal profession through education and activism, to promote members to the highest levels of law firm, government, academic, community and corporate positions, and to endorse qualified female attorneys for appointments to the state and federal judiciary. NJWLA fosters leadership among its members by promoting professional activities, mentoring, educational programs and networking functions.

Simeone, a resident of Woodbridge, concentrates her practice on labor & employment litigation. She has a wide range of experience in both state and federal courts and agencies, primarily defending management in claims made under state and federal employment laws, including claims for sexual harassment, race, gender, national origin, and disability discrimination. She also has been involved in cases alleging constructive discharge, wrongful termination, retaliation, breach of express or implied employment contracts, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, and violations of restrictive covenants. Her work includes the defense of corporate defendants, as well as individual officers, directors and employees, addressing issues unique to small businesses, as well as challenges faced by large public companies.

Simeone also speaks and publishes in the area of labor and employment law. Most recently, she authored a NMM L&E Law Alert entitled “Companies Face Potential Risk for Discriminatory Refusal to Do Business” and presented “Updates on Technology, Discrimination, & Military Family Leave” at the firm’s annual Hot Topics in Labor & Employment Law client seminar.

Simeone earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University in 1993 and her B.A., summa cum laude, from St. John’s University in 1990. She is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and is a member of the New Jersey State, Middlesex County and Somerset County Bar Associations, as well as the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Resource Center of Somerset.
