Matthew R. Sorrentino Named to Board of Observers for Muhlenberg College
Matthew R. Sorrentino, Member of Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino, the Pennsylvania office of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., was recently named a new member of the Board of Observers for Muhlenberg College.
The Board of Observers program, created by the Board of Trustees, will provide regular assessments and reviews of planning at the departmental level.The Board of Observers communicates Muhlenberg's strengths to the broader academic world and creates a broader base of volunteer leadership and philanthropic support for the College by engaging distinguished alumni, parents, and friends in substantive work that will develop them as informed advocates and potential future candidates for the Board of Trustees.
“This program allows unbiased evaluation of the college and its processes to further improve the effectiveness and efficiency of running an educational institution. I am proud to serve my alma mater in this capacity,” explained Sorrentino.
Sorrentino focuses his practice on health care, general corporate and business, and real estate law. In addition to being a member of the firm’s Management Committee, Sorrentino currently serves as Lehigh County Solicitor, managing a staff of 18 full- and part-time staff attorneys for the County.
Sorrentino has served as lead counsel in numerous real estate and commercial acquisition transactions involving institutional health care providers. He has led the development and implementation of the Lehigh Valley's major health care joint ventures including MRI centers, ambulatory surgical centers and several medical office buildings.
Early in his career, Sorrentino was lead defense counsel for various municipalities handling several seminal cases before the appellate courts in the development of Pennsylvania's Municipal Subdivision Tort Claims Act.
Sorrentino serves as general counsel to Lehigh Valley Health Network, the region's largest health-care provider and employer. He also serves as general counsel to: Health Network Laboratories, a regional clinical laboratory with annual revenue in excess of $100 million; Lehigh Valley Physician Group, a multi-specialty, nonprofit physician practice with in excess of 400 physicians; and Anchor Health Properties, LLC, a national developer of innovative facilities dedicated to health and wellness. Matt and his wife currently serve as Co-Chairs of the President’s Society of Lehigh Valley Health Network.
He is very active in the community serving as member of the Board of Observers for Muhlenberg College, chair on the board of Communities in Schools, and as past-chair of the board of the Da Vinci Center of Science and Technology.
He earned his J.D. from Villanova University and his A.B. from Muhlenberg College.
