    Richard B. Somach, a Member of the law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present “What You Need to Know Before You Buy at the Sheriff’s Sales, Tax Sales, and Tax Foreclosure Sales,” and Jacqueline K. Holmes,  an Associate of the firm, will present “What You Need to Know If You Buy at a Sheriff’s Sale, Tax Sale, and Tax Foreclosure” for Slatehouse Property Management of the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Allentown Brew Works.

    Somach will discuss the ins and outs of buying real estate at sheriff’s sales, tax sales, and tax foreclosure sales. Holmes will discuss post-sale ejectment actions and quiet title actions for buyers who purchase real estate at such sales.

    Somach focuses his practice on real estate, commercial law, and creditors’ remedies, representing real estate development companies, shopping centers, and local banks. He has represented real estate owners, developers, and investors in a broad range of real estate transactions, including zoning matters, residential subdivisions, and shopping center development. A licensed title insurance agent, Somach is president of the title insurance and settlement company ABE Settlement Services. He is legal counsel to the Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS®, and also serves as Assistant Lehigh County Solicitor, advising the Sheriff’s Office, the Tax Assessment Office, and the Tax Claim Bureau. He frequently writes and lectures on real estate matters, sheriff’s sales, and real estate tax sales. He received his B.A., with honors, in 1971 from Lehigh University and his J.D. in 1974 from Hofstra University Law School.

    Holmes concentrates her practice on complex litigation and general civil litigation matters. In her commercial litigation practice, she handles contract and business disputes involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, debt collection, and other business-related disputes. Holmes has experience in real estate related-litigation, including residential and commercial landlord/tenant matters; disputes arising from the sale of residential property, including “failure to disclose” cases; mortgage foreclosure actions; actions to quiet title; ejectment actions; tax assessment appeals; and other property disputes. Holmes also represents plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury matters. In her broad litigation practice, she handles cases in Pennsylvania local, state, and federal courts.

    Jacqueline K. Holmes, an Associate at the Pennsylvania office of the law firm Norris McLaughlin P.A., has been named an honoree of Lehigh Valley’s Finest. She will be honored at the 9th Annual Lehigh Valley’s Finest Gala at The Centennial Ballroom, Homewood Suites, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. The gala benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and celebrates the honorees and their accomplishments to raise funds and awareness for CFF.     Lehigh Valley’s Finest Gala honors men and women who exemplify strong leadership qualities, are active volunteers, and excel in their chosen profession. The Finest campaign is designed to spotlight young leaders, honoring their professional and charitable accomplishments. “I am humbled and honored to serve as a Lehigh Valley Honoree for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation this year.     Jacqueline K. Holmes, an associate with Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been elected to the Board of It’s My Life.

    “I am honored to be serving on the board of an organization that provides services to those who may not be as fortunate and to know that my work here has the potential to drastically impact the lives of people.” said Holmes.

    It’s My Life is a nonprofit charitable organization that supports people with the label of Intellectual Disability and enables them to be involved within the community. The organization’s person-centered approach facilitates and motivates people to realize their full individual potential and aids them in finding employment opportunities.

    Holmes and focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation. Outside of work, she volunteers on the Brooklyn Law School Alumni Admissions Board. She has been active in the Bar Associations and in alumni networking organizations. She graduated from Lehigh University, summa cum laude, in 2009, and from Brooklyn Law School, cum laude, in 2012.

    Allentown, PA (February 21, 2014) – On January 30, three Norris McLaughlin, P.A.Associates were admitted into the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. They are Catherine Curcio, Jackie Holmes, and Julie Macomb, who practice in the areas of Family Law, Litigation, and Business Law, respectively.

    Curcio focuses her practice on family law and real estate and land use. She counsels clients in all aspects of complex family matters from inception to conclusion, including divorce, custody, support, and adoption, and participates in custody and support conferences, masters and de novo hearings, pre-trial and settlement conferences, and other hearings in Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe, and Bucks Counties. In addition to her family law practice, she handles residential and commercial real estate matters, including purchase and sale transactions, lease agreements, actions in partition and ejectment, actions to quiet title, and zoning ordinance challenges for public and private clients. She has appeared on behalf of clients before local zoning hearing boards and planning commissions. Outside the firm, Curcio is a member of the Board of Directors of the Third Street Alliance, and is actively involved in the American Red Cross for the Greater Lehigh Valley, participating in its Heroes Campaign. She also is a member of the Lafayette College Young Alumni Association and ArtsQuest. Curcio is a resident of Nazareth.

    Holmes focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm in 2013, Holmes served as law clerk to the Honorable Stephen G. Baratta, President Judge, Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County. During her clerkship, she served the county in litigation matters and gained experience in drafting judicial opinions and orders and conducting legal research. Holmes also was a judicial intern in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, where she was involved in cases regarding Title VII employment discrimination, constitutional rights claims, and Social Security benefits appeals. Outside the firm, she volunteers on the Brooklyn Law School Alumni Admissions Board. Holmes is a resident of Bethlehem.

    Macomb is a member of the firm’s Business Law, Health Care Law and Economic Development Practice Groups. A summer associate in 2011 and 2012, Macomb joined the firm in 2013. During her final year of law school, she was law clerk to the Honorable Henry S. Perkin, United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Macomb served as an Ecotage Terrorism Research Assistant for the Global Terrorism Database, a Communications Directorate for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and as an intern at the Prince George’s County Office of the Public Defender. While at Widener University School of Law, she was a senior staff member of The Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. Outside the firm, she is actively involved in Commercial Real Estate for Women. Macomb is a resident of Bethlehem.
