    As the Empire State has gradually reopened and businesses are starting the long road to recovery, the COVID-19 pandemic has left a lasting impact on commercial real estate leasing, most particularly for New York’s restaurant industry. Sharyn will explain how the landscape of commercial lease negotiations has changed due to the pandemic. In addition to sorting through the administrative changes that halted late penalties and evictions by executive order, this webinar will also review state and local legislation aimed at curtailing personal liability guarantees and their enforceability for existing lease agreements.

    About Sharyn Tritto

    Sharyn specializes in all aspects of real estate litigation, particularly landlord and tenant law. As a real estate attorney, she also handles leasing and transactional matters.

    Sharyn has practiced in all courts at both the trial and the appellate levels. In addition, she handles matters before various administrative agencies, including but not limited to the Environmental Control Board and the Division of Homes and Community Renewal.

    Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Sharyn was the in-house counsel at Sol Goldman Investments, where she handled everything from nonpayment proceedings to complex real estate litigation matters in the Supreme Court.

    About Jeanne Hamburg

    Jeanne concentrates her practice in all aspects of copyright and trademark law, both in litigation and in the transactional area. She litigates copyright, trademark, and cybersquatting cases through trial and, if necessary, appeal. To this end, she has acted as national counsel in federal courts across the country to bring and defend infringement claims for clients, both foreign and domestic.

    In the transactional area, Jeanne counsels clients on intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions. She is experienced in copyright and trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, and has particular expertise with contentious and transactional issues arising from the Internet.

    Jeanne is a co-author of the firm’s trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law blog, More Than Your Mark. She is a frequent speaker and writer on intellectual property topics and is active in many trade groups in industries whose clients she serves.

    New York, NY (November 17, 2014) – Norris McLaughlin, P.A., continues to expand services with the addition of four new attorneys in its New York City office.  Stephen H. Penn, Gerard Proefriedt, Sharyn A. Tritto, and Neal Schwarzfeld, formerly of the New York City firm Penn Proefriedt Schwarzfeld & Schwartz, will contribute to the growth of the firm’s real estate and litigation groups in the New York legal market.

    Stephen H. Penn has more than fifty years of experience in law, with expertise in representing the owners of commercial and residential property, as both a litigator and a transactional attorney.  He also has a particular knowledge of employment law.  Steve has specialized experience in negotiating license agreements and leases with governmental agencies including the MTA, LIRR, DOT, and EDC.  He represents major corporations as well as small single entity businesses and has entered into master licenses for entire transit centers and for small individual stores and kiosks.  Steve represents some of the largest real estate developers and owners in the New York City market, where he acts as both an attorney and a consultant for their real estate requirements.  He also has represented numerous employers and employees in labor cases on both the state and the federal level.

    Gerard Proefriedt devotes his practice to real estate law and commercial litigation.  He holds a specific expertise in Loft Law, where the objective is to bring buildings illegally converted to residential use into compliance with state and city housing laws relating to health, safety, and fire protection. He is experienced in landlord and tenant law, real estate leasing, air rights transfers, cooperative and condominium conversions, commercial litigation, real estate transfers and refinancing.

    Sharyn A. Tritto specializes in all aspects of real estate litigation, particularly landlord and tenant law.  She also handles leasing and transactional matters.  Sharyn has handled matters in all courts, at both the trial and appellate levels, as well as before various administrative agencies including, but not limited to, the Environmental Control Board and Division of Homes and Community Renewal.

    Neal Schwarzfeld has over 40 years’ experience in real estate and broker litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He has represented numerous real estate developers, including Zeckendorf Realty, Fortress Financial Group, Worldwide Holdings Corp., Swig Equities, and Goldman Sachs, as well as many real estate brokerage firms, including Brown Harris Stevens, Halstead Properties, Joanna Culter Real Estate, Collins Tuttle Real Estate, Corcoran Group Real Estate and Murray Hill Properties.   Non-real estate-related clients have included the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Jamaica Public Service Company of Kingston, Jamaica.
