Bridgewater, NJ (April 21, 2014) – Deanna Koestel, a Member of the Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has earned the Construction Compliance™ Certification from Lorman Education Services.

This Construction Compliance™ Certificate is designed to recognize construction, engineering, and development professionals who want to expand their knowledge and demonstrate their commitment to life-long learning and continued professional development. The guiding principles of the certificate program are to learn continually, requiring individuals to constantly expand their knowledge base; to create a culture within the industry that promotes compliance and the highest ethical standards; to foster an environment that rewards growth, dedication, and a desire for improvement; and to offer a credible source of recognition for professionals seeking to achieve success through a commitment to timely, relevant and practical training. The certificate is earned by completing three approved credits within a two-year period, and one approved credit must be completed every year thereafter to maintain the certificate.
Koestel is a commercial litigator who specializes in complex civil matters, construction disputes, and general commercial disputes in both New Jersey and New York state and federal courts. She has handled a variety of commercial matters, including breach of contract, fraud and consumer fraud actions, professional negligence, shareholder disputes, and products liability litigation. She is experienced in all aspects of commercial litigation, including sophisticated fact and expert discovery, motion practice, argument, and trial.
Koestel is experienced in construction litigation matters, including complex construction trials and arbitrations. She routinely represents property owners, contractors and subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers in construction contract issues, including breach of contract, warranty actions, building supply defects, and professional liability. Additionally, she handles construction lien issues on behalf of owners and contractors alike.
Koestel has been selected for inclusion in the Business Litigation section of New Jersey Rising Stars for 2014, her seventh consecutive selection. She was also recognized in January 2013 at the 25th Annual Somerset Hills YMCA Volunteer Recognition Night as a Volunteer of the Year for her work with H.A.R.K. (Healthy Active Responsible Kids), where she was a founding board member and trustee, and Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey, which is sponsored by H.A.R.K. She has participated in fundraising and volunteering for Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey.
Koestel earned her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2002, and her B.A. in Psychology and Criminology/Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland in 1999.
