Deanna Koestel Named a Volunteer of the Year by Somerset Hills YMCA

Bridgewater, NJ (January 7, 2013) – At the 25th Annual Somerset Hills YMCA Volunteer Recognition Night, Deanna Koestel, a Member of the Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., was recognized as a Volunteer of the Year for her work with H.A.R.K. (Healthy Active Responsible Kids) and Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey. Koestel is a founding board member and trustee of H.A.R.K.

H.A.R.K., founded by Donna Dourney in member of her father Charles W. Dourney, is dedicated to raising awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and its devastating effects, and providing patients and their families with all that they need to battle the disease. Dourney was a lifelong athlete, coach and father of seven, who courageously battled ALS until his death in November 2009. He was affectionately known as “Hark” by his wife Ann. H.A.R.K. also sponsors the Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey program, for which Koestel fundraises and serves as a volunteer.

Koestel is a commercial litigator who specializes in complex civil matters, construction disputes, and general commercial disputes in both New Jersey and New York. She has handled a variety of commercial matters, including breach of contract, fraud and consumer fraud actions, professional negligence, shareholder disputes, and products liability litigation. She is experienced in all aspects of commercial litigation, including sophisticated fact and expert discvoery, motion practice, argument, and trial.

Koestel has considerable experience in construction litigation matters, including complex construction trials and arbitrations. She routinely represents property ownerse, contractors and subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers in construction contract issues, including breach of contract, warranty actions, building supply defects, and professional liability. Additionally, she is experienced in handling construction lien issues on behalf of owners and contractors alike.

Koestel has been selected for inclusion in the Busienss Litigation section of New Jersey Rising Stars for 2012, her fifth consecutive selection.

Koestel earned her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2002, and her B.A. in Psychology and Criminology/Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland in 1999.
