Deanna L. Koestel Named Among New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars

Posted on July 22nd, 2008

The Somerville law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A. is pleased to announce that Deanna L. Koestel has been selected for inclusion in the Business Litigation section of New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars 2008.

New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars are sought out by an attorney-led research team, which actively searches for outstanding new attorneys to complement the annual statewide survey of Super Lawyers. The research team evaluates prospective candidates for indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement as a supplement to the Super Lawyers balloting. Civic service and pro bono activities are also considered. Their research is verified and a good-standing review is carried out to ensure that candidates are in good standing with the New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics web site. Only two and a half percent of New Jersey attorneys are given this honor.

Koestel, a resident of New York, focuses her practice on commercial litigation, specializing in complex commercial matters, construction disputes and products liability defense. She has considerable experience in construction litigation matters. She has represented property owners, contractors and subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers in various construction contract issues, including breach of contract, warranty actions, building supply defects, and professional liability. She also has considerable experience in handling construction lien issues on behalf of both property owners and contractors. Recently, Koestel won a favorable jury award on behalf of a property owner in a complex construction dispute.

Additionally, Koestel has represented clients in a variety of commercial disputes including breach of contract, professional negligence, intellectual property and products liability litigation. She has successfully handled several large insurance litigation matters, in both federal and state court, involving fraud, misrepresentation, bad faith and the interpretation of insurance policies.

Koestel is a member of the NMM Women’s Forum Steering Committee, as well as its Marketing Sub-committee, which focuses on speaking engagements, association memberships, trade group involvement and publications, and the planning of a seminar.
