Yesterday, I was honored to speak before the National Association of Real Estate Broker’s Southern New Jersey Regional Board (NAREB) on the impact of the American immigration system and the current Administration’s enforcement actions on New Jersey’s real estate industry.

The food was incredible, the information was plentiful, the interest was intense, and the questions were many—from whether the City of Camden could be designated an EB-5 Regional Center and how an undocumented individual could qualify for a mortgage through an ITIN lenders, to questions about landlords threatening to call Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) on undocumented tenants, and what remedies exist for to so many forced to live in deplorable conditions for fear ICE will knock on their door if they lodge a complaint. » Read More

Immigration Attorney Raymond Lahoud Discussed Immigration Law and the Real Estate Industry for Real Estate Group

Last Thursday, I was honored to speak to the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors (HGAR) on the growing intersections between immigration and the real estate industry in New York State, specifically the EB-5 Investor Visa Program.

The program allows foreign entrepreneurs (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) to apply for a green card (permanent residence) if they: (1) make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States; and (2) plan to create or preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified United States workers.  » Read More
