Jeralyn L. Lawrence Honored As "Outstanding Woman" in Law

Jeralyn L. Lawrence, a member of the Somerville law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A. has been selected as the Outstanding Women in the Law category for 2008 by the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women (SCCSW). The award will be presented at the SCCSW Annual Dinner on Friday, March 14th, 2008, at 6:00 PM at the Martinsville Inn.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women sponsors the program to highlight women who have made significant contributions in their professional fields to women’s causes and in their community endeavors. The other categories for the 2008 program are Arts/Entertainment, Business/Management, Education, Entrepreneur, Government/Public Service, Hometown Hero, Information Technology, Journalism/Media, Medicine/Health Services, Social Services and Volunteerism. Honorees are women who reside or work in Somerset County.

Lawrence devotes her practice to matrimonial, divorce and family law. Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney and a Family/Divorce Mediator, she has worked with clients whose needs lie in all areas of matrimonial and family law, including divorce litigation and mediation, custody and parenting time issues, alimony and child support, separation and property settlement agreements, adoption and guardianship advice, domestic partnership matters under the Domestic Partnership Act, domestic violence and sexual abuse, and palimony. She takes great pride and care in helping her clients make it through these difficult personal matters.

To complement the breadth of her matrimonial, divorce and family law practice, Lawrence involves herself in various professional engagements outside the firm. She frequently serves as a speaker and panelist at divorce and family law programs and seminars, and she has been admitted to the rosters of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases and of Custody and Parenting Time Cases for Somerset County. She spends her spare time as an attorney volunteer at the Resource Center for Women and Their Families in Somerset County. She is a member of the NMM Women’s Forum Steering Committee, as well as its Education Subcommittee, which is responsible for the professional development and training of the firm’s women attorneys. Lawrence is Trustee of the Somerset County Bar Foundation and Co-Chair of the Somerset County Mock Trial Committee.

Lawrence has been selected by her peers as one of New Jersey’s Top Ten matrimonial lawyers under the age of 40. She has also been recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of 40 accomplished and promising attorneys in the State of New Jersey under the age of 40. For several years, she has been listed among New Jersey’s Super Lawyers, which rates her among the top 5 percent of New Jersey lawyers. In 2007, she received the Young Lawyers Division’s Professional Achievement Award and the Annual Legislative Recognition Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association.
