Jeralyn L. Lawrence, a member of the Somerville law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., is speaking at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Mid-Year Meeting. The meeting will take place from November 5th through the 9th at the Disney’s Boardwalk Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Lawrence will discuss the rights and responsibilities of adults in non-traditional families.
The New Jersey State Bar Association’s mission is to serve, protect, foster and promote the personal and professional interests of its members; serve as the voice of New Jersey attorneys to other organizations, governmental entities and the public with regard to the law, legal profession and legal system; promote access to the justice system, fairness in its administration and encourage participation in voluntary pro bono activities; foster professionalism and pride in the profession and the NJSBA; provide educational opportunities to New Jersey attorneys to enhance the quality of legal services and the practice of law; and provide education to the New Jersey public to enhance awareness of the legal profession and legal system.
Lawrence devotes her practice to matrimonial, divorce and family law, and collaborative law. Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney and a Family/Divorce Mediator, she has worked with clients whose needs lie in all areas of matrimonial and family law, including divorce litigation and mediation, custody and parenting time issues, alimony and child support, separation and property settlement agreements, adoption and guardianship advice, domestic partnership matters under the Domestic Partnership Act, domestic violence and sexual abuse, and palimony. She takes great pride and care in helping her clients make it through these difficult personal matters.
To complement the breadth of her matrimonial, divorce and family law practice, Lawrence involves herself in various professional engagements outside the firm. She frequently serves as a speaker and panelist at divorce and family law programs and seminars, and she has been admitted to the rosters of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases and of Custody and Parenting Time Cases for Somerset County. She spends her spare time as an attorney volunteer at the Resource Center for Women and Their Families in Somerset County. Lawrence is Trustee of the Somerset County Bar Association and the Somerset County Bar Foundation and Co-Chair of the Somerset County Mock Trial Committee. She was recently appointed to the Somerset County Domestic Violence Working Group as a representative of the Somerset County Family Law Section. She is currently a member of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association and the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators. She is also a member of the NMM Women’s Forum Steering Committee, as well as Co-Chair of its Marketing Subcommittee.
Lawrence has been selected by her peers as one of New Jersey’s Top Ten matrimonial lawyers under the age of 40. She has also been recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of 40 accomplished and promising attorneys in the State of New Jersey under the age of 40. For several years, she has been listed among New Jersey’s Super Lawyers, which rates her among the top 5 percent of New Jersey lawyers. She has also been selected as one of the Top 50 Female New Jersey Super Lawyers® 2008. In 2007, Jeralyn received the Young Lawyers Division’s Professional Achievement Award and the Annual Legislative Recognition Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association.
