Bridgewater, NJ (March 17, 2010) – Jeralyn L. Lawrence, a Member of Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A. and its Matrimonial Group, will participate in What Everyone Should Know About Divorce, Child Custody and Grandparents’ Rights, sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. The conference will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square, New Brunswick, New Jersey. There is no admission fee, but advance registration is required. To register, visit or call (732) 249-5000.

What Everyone Should Know About Divorce, Child Custody and Grandparents’ Rights is a complimentary divorce law seminar, which is open to the public. It will cover divorce-related procedures and issues, such as mediation and arbitration, alimony, and equitable distribution. The speakers will explain in laymen terms the Early Settlement Panel, a lawyer-led attempt to avoid trial by working out financial matters between the divorcing parties. In addition, they will also address the various subtopics of divorce, including custody arrangements, working with a custody expert, relocation outside the state, how to maximize child support within the guidelines, and grandparents’ visitation rights.

The New Jersey State Bar Foundation makes New Jersey law accessible to the public by providing free events, publications and educational programs for students, educators and all New Jersey citizens. Seminars and conferences are regularly held at the New Jersey Law Center. The popular seminar series brings lawyers and the public together to discuss topics including divorce, wills and estate planning, domestic violence, small claims court, and disability law.
