Jeralyn Lawrence to Speak at Annual Hot Tips in Family Law Program

Bridgewater, NJ (October 7, 2011) – Jeralyn L. Lawrence, a Member of Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will speak at the annual program for family law practitioners sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Family Law Section in association with the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Entitled “Hot Tips in Family Law 2011: Finding the Deeper Meaning,” this year’s program will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Hilton in East Brunswick.

The program will cover many well-known cases frequently citeed in the Family Part, such as Lepis, Brown, Konzelman, and Isaacson, but the speakers, in a rapid-fire format, will specifically focus on the “deeper meaning,” or the other issues addressed in these cases. Lawrence will cover Boardman v. Boardman. The program is being offered for Continuing Legal Education credit for New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, Matrimonial Law Certification, and Continuing Professional Education. A resident of Watchung, Lawrence devotes her practice to matrimonial, divorce and family law, and collaborative law. A Family/Divorce Mediator, and certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney, she has worked with clients whose needs lie in all areas of matrimonial and family law, including divorce litigation and mediation, custody and parenting time issues, alimony and child support, separation and property settlement agreements, adoption and guardianship advice, domestic partnership matters under the Domestic Partnership Act, domestic violence and sexual abuse, and palimony. She takes great pride and care in helping her clients make it through these difficult personal matters.

To complement the breadth of her matrimonial, divorce and family law practice, Lawrence involves herself in various professional engagements outside the firm. She frequently serves as a speaker and panelist at divorce and family law programs and seminars, and she has been admitted to the rosters of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases and of Custody and Parenting Time Cases for Somerset County. She spends her spare time as an attorney volunteer at the Resource Center for Women and Their Families in Somerset County.

Lawrence serves as Second Vice President of the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section, as well as on several of its committees. She serves as an Associate Managing Editor of the New Jersey Family Lawyer, the official publication of the Family Law Section. She also serves on the Board of Managers of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the preeminent family law association in America. She was appointed to the Somerset County Domestic Violence Working Group, as a representative of the Somerset County Family Law Section. She is currently a member of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association and the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators. She is also a member of the NMM Women’s Forum Steering Committee.

Lawrence was honored as one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business in 2011 for her dedication and contributions to New Jersey business and community. She was also selected as the 2009 Kean University Distinguished Alumna, the highest award for alumni, by the Kean University Alumni Association. She was also honored as an Outstanding Woman in Somerset County for 2008 by the Somerset County Commission On the Status of Women. She has been selected by her peers as one of New Jersey’s Top Ten matrimonial lawyers under the age of 40, and recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of 40 accomplished and promising attorneys in the State of New Jersey under the age of 40. For several years, she has been listed among New Jersey’s Super Lawyers, which rates her among the top 5 percent of New Jersey lawyers. She has also been selected as one of the Top 100 New Jersey Super Lawyers for 2009, as well as Top 50 Female New Jersey Super Lawyers in 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2007, Lawrence received the Young Lawyers Division’s Professional Achievement Award and the Annual Legislative Recognition Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association. In recognition of her valuable contributions, Lawrence has received Certificates of Appreciation from 1998 to 2010 from the Somerset County Superior Court.
