Annmarie Simeone to Serve Second Term as New Jersey Women Lawyers Association Co-Director of Nominations

Annmarie Simeone, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., and Co-Chair of its Diversity Committee, will serve her second term as Co-Director of Nominations for the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association (NJWLA) for the 2020-2021 term, beginning July 1, 2020. She will continue to oversee the NJWLA’s nominations and elections, and act as the Executive Board’s liaison with the Nominations Committee.

It is an honor to be a long-time leader of an organization that has had an important impact on the New Jersey legal community, and I look forward to continuing my service in support of the mission of NJWLA,” said Simeone.

Simeone has been actively involved in the NJWLA for over ten years. She served as Nominations Co-Director, 2019-2020; Immediate Past President, 2018-2019; President, 2016-2017; Vice President, 2015-2016; Chief Financial Officer, 2014-2015; Secretary, 2013-2014; Co-Chief Operating Officer, 2010-2011; Chair of the Women’s Initiative and Leaders in Law Gala, 2011-2013; and Co-Director of the Women’s Leadership Committee, 2008-2010.

About Annmarie Simeone

Simeone concentrates her practice on labor and employment counseling and litigation. She primarily defends management in claims made by employees under state and federal employment laws, including whistleblower claims and claims alleging harassment and discrimination based on race, gender, religion, national origin, and disability. Simeone’s work includes the defense of corporations, as well as individual officers, directors, and employees, addressing issues unique to small businesses, and challenges faced by larger companies. She also provides advice and counseling to human resource professionals and in-house counsel on employment issues including employee leaves of absence, workplace investigations, employee discipline, and layoff and termination issues, including the negotiation and design of severance agreements. Simeone drafts employee handbooks and employment-related policies and procedures, and has significant experience protecting businesses from liability by conducting training for supervisors and employees.

In 2019, she was elected as a Trustee of the Middlesex County Bar Association; in 2018 she received the Presidential Leadership Award from the NJWLA; in 2016, she received the Professional Lawyer of the Year Award from the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law; and in 2013, she was named Outstanding Woman in Somerset County in the area of Law by the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women. Simeone received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1993, and her B.A., summa cum laude, from St. John’s University in 1990.
