Beginning 8:45 a.m., Hlavac will cover significant recent changes involving legal issues in the workplace. The seminar will review new legislative, regulatory, and case-law developments relating to: wage and hour issues; discrimination and harassment claims based on sex, race, age, national origin, religion, and other protected classifications; the EEOC’s harassment guidance and the impact of the #metoo movement; disability and accommodation issues; transgender and sexual orientation issues; the latest under the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act; Executive Orders and other newly-implemented rules and regulations of the Trump Administration; medical marijuana and the impact on employers; social media issues in the workplace; labor law and NLRB developments; and other pending and proposed legislation.
Hlavac focuses his practice exclusively on labor and employment law. He handles traditional labor law matters and employment-related litigation, and counsels employers of all sizes concerning workplace issues including discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, safety and health, wage and hour, workplace accommodations, noncompetition and confidentiality agreements, employment contracts, employee handbooks, unemployment compensation, union avoidance, collective bargaining negotiations and agreements, grievance arbitrations, and unfair labor practice charges. Hlavac was selected as a 2015 Top Rated Lawyer in Labor and Employment by American Lawyer Media and Martindale-Hubbell. He is past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley, where he also served as the Board’s Vice Chair and a member of the Executive and Human Resources Committee. He graduated magna cum laude from Franklin & Marshall College in 1991 and from George Washington University Law School, with honors, in 1994.
