Posted on September 9th, 2019

Svetlana (Lana) Ros, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the District XA Ethics Committee for East Morris and Sussex Counties. Ros will serve a four-year term from September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2023.

The District Ethics Committees investigate and prosecute ethics cases involving New Jersey attorneys with all members performing several duties. Members participate in regular monthly meetings and investigate grievances docketed by the committee. If the initial investigation finds grounds for a formal complaint, the matter is heard by a panel of committee members comprising two attorneys and one public member. The committee is supported and overseen by the Office of Attorney Ethics, and any recommended sanction is reviewed by the state’s Disciplinary Review Board. Final discipline is imposed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, which reviews sanctions recommended from below.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Ethics Committee for East Morris and Sussex Counties. I look forward to volunteering my time to serve and protect the integrity of the Bar,” said Ros.

Ros focuses her practice on health care law, specifically in the area of civil and administrative litigation, with a concentration in professional licensure and general defense before government agencies providing oversight to the practice of medicine and dentistry. She also handles transactional and regulatory matters affecting healthcare providers. Ros routinely represents healthcare professionals before federal agencies, including Medicare, Office of Civil Rights, and Office of the Inspector General, and state agencies such as Department of Banking and Insurance, Attorney General’s Office, and Department of Health.

Ros writes and lectures throughout New Jersey and New York on legal issues affecting healthcare professionals, such as over-prescribing of medications, inappropriate conduct of practitioners, general licensure, healthcare-related cybersecurity issues, fraud and abuse, medical records, HIPAA, and employment law.

Ros earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2007 and her B.S. in biotechnology and nutrition from Rutgers University in 2003.
