Bridgewater, NJ (September 19, 2012) – Attorneys of the Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., Jeanne Hamburg and Margaret Raymond-Flood participated in the 2012 InfraGard Security Summit on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Hamburg presented “Trademark and Copyright Issues in Social Media & the Web.” She covered trademark and copyright issues unique to social networking, including controlling employee and user interactions with social media platforms to maximize benefits and minimize liabilities; addressing copyright and trademark complaints; permissions for and licensing copyrightable content, web site development, protecting copyrights and handling copyright infringement complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act; rights of publicity and attribution online; and trademark issues arising from key word searching, phishing, and cybersquatting.
Raymond-Flood’s topic was “E-Discovery: Navigating Through the Minefield,” reviewing the legal challenges corporations face in maintaining electronically stored information (“ESI”) and the three phases of ESI that companies should consider.
