Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Participates In Adopt-A-Family Program

Bridgewater, NJ (December 15, 2008) – The law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., is pleased to announce it will participate in the Adopt-A-Family Program of the Resource Center for Women and Their Families, as part of its commitment to community. The program helps fulfill the holiday wishes of many local families.

Children, teens, and families create wish lists for the Resource Center, requesting gifts that will make the holiday season brighter. Attorneys and staff at the firm will volunteer to purchase gifts from the family’s wish lists and also donate gift cards to stores, wrapping paper, tape, tissue paper, and household goods.

“Norris McLaughlin, P.A. is happy to continue its support of the Resource Center for Women and Their Families. The Resource Center’s Adopt-A-Family Program is another way in which Norris McLaughlin’s attorneys and staff is able to give back to the community in which they work and live. It is our hope that the generous contributions from the Firm will help bring comfort and enjoyment to the family during the holiday season and throughout the year,” stated Annmarie Simeone, a Member of the Firm who also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Resource Center.

The Resource Center for Women and Their Families is a private non-profit agency serving victims of domestic abuse in Somerset County. Its mission is to end domestic abuse and empower victims by providing protection, education, and resources to victims and their families. “Domestic abuse will affect one in four women sometime in their lives and 40% of teenage girls. We applaud the work being done by the Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Women’s Forum to help build awareness,” said Executive Director Paloma Amar-Coleman. In 2007, the Resource Center provided services free of charge to 676 clients, provided 4,664 nights of safety to 85 women and children in their safehouse, housed 13 families in their transition housing program, provided 3,905 hours of counseling, outreach services and legal advocacy, answered over 3,521 hotline calls, and educated nearly 2,700 individuals about domestic abuse.

Norris McLaughlin, P.A. prides itself on being a responsible corporate citizen through extensive pro bono work and firm-wide charitable initiatives for worthwhile causes, such as the Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity and Somerset County’s Resource Center for Women and Their Families. Individual attorneys and staff also give their time and talents to many organizations, including the Montgomery Academy, The Adult Day Center of Somerset County, Somerset County Crimestoppers, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Hunterdon Prevention Resources, to name a few.
