Norris McLaughlin Continues Growth of New York Office With the Addition of Two More Attorneys
The law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., is pleased to welcome Hugh P. Finnegan and Jodi A. Sokol as Members of the firm. Both attorneys have been brought to Norris McLaughlin to enhance the bench strength and capability of the New York Real Estate & Finance Law Practice Group financing deals.

As with other recent lateral hires, these additions continue Norris McLaughlin’s strategy of growth and expansion by adding bench strength and fortifying skill sets to the firm’s core practices. With the additions of Finnegan and Sokol, the firm has added five attorneys to its New York practice since August, where the firm’s total local headcount now exceeds 30 attorneys.

About Hugh Finnegan
Finnegan focuses his practice on commercial real estate financings and construction matters. For over 35 years, he has built a special expertise in commercial real estate acquisitions, bridge, construction, project, and mezzanine matters.
Finnegan represents both local and international landlords and tenants in leasing transactions for offices, warehouses, shopping centers, restaurants, and other retail uses throughout the United States. He also assists lenders and borrowers on loan restructurings and workouts, and has represented several commercial banks in the sale of distressed loans.
Finnegan was named in “2018 Ones to Watch” by the New York Real Estate Journal. He has been selected for inclusion on the list of New York Metro Super Lawyers from 2009-2020 and is included in the Real Estate Law section of the current edition of Best Lawyers®. Finnegan earned his J.D. in 1983 from Fordham University School of Law and his B.A. in 1980, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Fordham University.
About Jodi Sokol
With over 20 years of experience, Sokol has been involved in all aspects of commercial real estate finance, acquisition, and sale transactions. She focuses primarily on the structuring, negotiating, and closing of financial transactions, including mortgage loans, secured and unsecured lines of credit, construction loans, and retail and commercial leasing.
Sokol represents institutional, non-institutional, and private equity lenders to provide permanent and construction financing, leasing, acquisition, and sale of multi-family residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, and mixed-use properties. She represents buyers and sellers of commercial properties in transactional matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, and the refinance of assets, as well as transactions involving I.R.C. Section 1031 Exchanges.
Sokol has been involved in substantial transactions, including representing the lead lender and agent in the financing and syndication of a $141 million acquisition and construction financing project in Orange County, New York, and representing the purchaser/borrower in the acquisition and financing of a multi-property, multi-family portfolio in Jackson, Mississippi. She earned her J.D. in 1995 from University of Miami School of Law and her B.A. in 1992 from University of Michigan.
