“We are pleased to have Michael join our team and are confident that his experience will serve as an asset to our team and to our clients,” said Margaret Raymond-Flood, Co-Chair of the Litigation Practice Group.
“I’m happy to be a part of the exceptional team of litigators at Norris McLaughlin, and I look forward to being a part of a law firm that emphasizes the importance of client service and collaboration,” Townsend said.
Townsend concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, providing strategic advice to individuals and companies in commercial and civil disputes. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in shareholder lawsuits, including corporate governance disputes, breach of fiduciary duty actions, fraud, and disputes arising from the management of alternative entities such as partnerships and LLCs. He also has experience handling white-collar criminal matters, including representing companies facing government investigations into alleged securities fraud.
Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Townsend was an associate at a litigation boutique, where he worked on complex commercial cases from inception to trial. Prior to that, he was a litigation associate at a large New Jersey-based law firm.
Townsend received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center. While attending law school, he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Lois H. Goodman in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He also worked as a legal intern at a Washington, D.C. think tank, where he focused his research on issues of criminal justice reform.
