Shana Siegel and Lori Kayne to Present at New Jersey State Bar Association 2020 Annual Meeting
Shana Siegel, Chair of the Norris McLaughlin Elder Care and Special Needs Law Practice Group, along with Lori Kayne, the firm’s Geriatric Social Worker, will present “Solo Seniors: Who Are They? How and Why Are Their Legal Needs Different?” on Thursday, May 14, 3:00 – 4:15 p.m., for the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) 2020 Annual Meeting.
“We’re honored that we have been invited to talk about this important subject which we are so passionate about and is critical for all attorneys to be made aware of, especially during these unprecedented times,” said Siegel.
Kayne added, “We are dedicated to advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves to make sure their wishes are honored and that they are protected from exploitation. We are truly appreciative of the NJSBA to allow us this opportunity to educate others who can also be advocates for this vulnerable group.”
About the NJSBA Elder and Disability Law Program
Hosted by the NJSBA Elder and Disability Law Section, this program will address the topic of solo seniors, including the demographic and societal changes leading to the rise in seniors aging independently, their special estate planning needs, and the ethical and practical issues of representing them, especially when there is no appointed fiduciary.
The multi-day event, May 13-15, being held virtually this year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, will feature speakers and presenters including members of New Jersey’s federal and state, appellate, and local courts. The NJSBA serves, protects, and promotes the personal and professional interests of its members, serving as the voice of New Jersey attorneys. It fosters professionalism and pride in the profession and the NJSBA, as well as provides educational opportunities to New Jersey attorneys to enhance the quality of legal services and the practice of law.
