IN THE NEWS: Business Owners Discuss Ways to Identify, Prevent Sexual Harassment

The “#metoo” movement is here to stay.  In just over four months, it has become a game changer in the field of sexual harassment and social norms in the American workplace.  Not only have many prominent individuals and their employers already been affected, it is only a matter of time before this powerful social movement takes a firm root in all businesses, both small and large.

Keya C. Denner, a Member of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., spoke at the Somerset County Business Partnership Business Builders Breakfast, “Sexual Harassment & Rules of the Modern Workplace,” on February 27 at the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster.  The seminar explored the legal framework and best practices that all employers must understand in order to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, and discussed the incentive for businesses to create a happier, healthier, and more profitable workplace that results from a harassment-free environment.  The video can be viewed on NJTV News.

 

The Labor & Employment Department of the firm is holding Supervisor Harassment training sessions on March 21 at the Best Western Lehigh Valley and on May 10 at the Bridgewater Marriott.  The sessions are an alternative to the traditional on-site training we are hired to do for many companies.  Like all of our sessions, this training will be a class-room style presentation with significant attendee interaction through questions, working through hypothetical situations, and role playing.
