    Richard B. Somach, a Member of the law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present “What You Need to Know Before You Buy at the Sheriff’s Sales, Tax Sales, and Tax Foreclosure Sales,” for Slatehouse Property Management of the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, April 9, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Allentown Brew Works.

    Somach will discuss the ins and outs of buying real estate at sheriff’s sales, tax sales, and tax foreclosure sales.

    Somach focuses his practice on real estate, commercial law, and creditors’ remedies, representing real estate development companies, shopping centers, and local banks. He has represented real estate owners, developers, and investors in a broad range of real estate transactions, including zoning matters, residential subdivisions, and shopping center development. A licensed title insurance agent, Somach is president of the title insurance and settlement company ABE Settlement Services. He is legal counsel to the Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS®, and also serves as Assistant Lehigh County Solicitor, advising the Sheriff’s Office, the Tax Assessment Office, and the Tax Claim Bureau. He frequently writes and lectures on real estate matters, sheriff’s sales, and real estate tax sales. He received his B.A., with honors, in 1971 from Lehigh University and his J.D. in 1974 from Hofstra University Law School.

    Raymond G. Lahoud, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A.,  and Chair of its Immigration Practice Group, will present “The Intersection of Immigration and Real Estate” for members of Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS®, Thursday, March 7, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., in White Plains, New York.

    Lahoud will cover the intersections of immigration with residential and commercial real estate transactions, including those involving documented and undocumented immigrants, temporary foreign employees, and international students; foreign corporations seeking to open a location in the United States or considering a complete relocation of company and employees; and residential and commercial property developers seeking alternative, low-cost project financing.

  • Apr 20, 2017Julie Macomb on Panel for CREW Program Featured in The Morning Call

    Julie Macomb, an Associate at the Pennsylvania office of the law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been selected as a panelist for the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) program, “Commercial Real Estate Meets Medical Marijuana.”

    Last spring, Governor Tom Wolf signed into law Pennsylvania’s compassionate medical cannabis legislation.  This spring, applications for grower/processors and dispensaries are being accepted by the PA Department of Health.  The program to be held on Thursday, April 27, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Country Club in Macungie, will explore real estate issues relating to the new industry.

    CREW Lehigh Valley is the premier commercial real estate network in northeast Pennsylvania, recognized for professionalism, leadership, and expertise.

    The program gained local attention and has been featured in The Morning Call.  Macomb was questioned for the article, “Seminar to focus on Pa. medical marijuana legislation.”

    A resident of Allentown, Macomb devotes her practice to business law, economic development law and real estate law.  She is actively involved in the day-to-day legal counseling of businesses, formation of business entities, general contract matters, corporate restructurings, and shareholder disputes.  In her health care practice, Macomb works with hospitals and their affiliated corporations, physician groups, clinical laboratories, medical staffs, nursing homes, and other long term care facilities.  In her economic development practice, she handles public financing, legal entity formation, and planning, and works with the Lehigh County Industrial Development Authority, Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, Lehigh’s Economic Advancement Project, and Northampton County New Jobs Corp.  Her real estate practice is focused on commercial lending issues, realty transfer tax issues; leasing projects for the firm’s healthcare clients; and acquisition, zoning, and disposition of commercial, residential, industrial, and retail properties.

    Macomb sits on the Board of Directors of the Hamilton District Main Street Program and co-chairs the Design Committee for the Program.  She is also a member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of CREW and sits on the Board of Directors.  Macomb earned her J.D. in 2013, magna cum laude, from Widener University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland in 2010.
