    Lana Ros, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., presented “Legal Implications of Prescribing CDS: What Every Physician Should Know” at the Union County Medical Society’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 27, at The Westwood in Garwood.

    Ros discussed the regulations limiting the prescribing of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) for acute pain and those governing the prescribing of CDS for chronic pain.  She also discussed the problem areas in prescribing CDS and how to avoid them.

    Members of the firm, David N. Vozza and Keya C. Denner, recently wrote an article for the Onondaga County Medical Society Bulletin‘s “The Legal Treatment” section.  Medical Practices in the New Age of Sexual Harassment and #MeToo” discusses the hot topic of sexual harassment in the workplace, which does not exclude medical practices, and its applicable laws, legal definition, employer liability, retaliation, and best practices in anti-harassment policies and training.

    Vozza defends health care professionals in connection with disciplinary and regulatory actions before federal and state agencies, private and government payor audits, civil and criminal fraud investigations, hospital and privileges disputes, and general healthcare litigation in both federal and state courts. He also regularly defends health care professionals before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct and the Office of Professional Discipline.  Vozza frequently lectures at hospitals throughout the state of New York regarding medical fraud, regulatory agencies, professional licensure, and medical documentation.   He earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and his B.A. at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

    Denner devotes his practice to labor and employment law, executive compensation, and commercial litigation.  In 2017, Denner was named New Leader of the Bar by New Jersey Law Journal, and in 2016 and 2017, he was included on the Employment & Labor list of New Jersey Rising Stars, published by Super Lawyers Magazine.  He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Community Visiting Nurse Association, where he is chair of the By-Laws Committee and a member of the Personnel Committee.  He is a past co-chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Somerset County Bar Association.  He also sits on the Personnel Committee for the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge, and South Amboy.  Denner earned his J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2004 and his B.A., cum laude, from Boston University in 2000.
