    Svetlana (Lana) Ros, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been named Secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (NJSBA) Health Law Section. As Secretary, she is responsible for assisting the leadership team to handle correspondence and manage the section’s yearly schedule of events.

    The NJSBA Health Law Section keeps members informed of frequent changes in laws and regulations affecting the provision of health care services through publications, programs, and conferences, such as the annual Health Law Symposium to be held this year on Friday, October 4, in Iselin.

    “I am excited to begin my term as Secretary, as I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the NJSBA Health Law Section, and look forward to working with my colleagues to further our mission and put on informative events and seminars relating to health care law,” said Ros.

    Ros focuses her practice on health care law, specifically in the area of civil and administrative litigation, with a concentration in professional licensure and general defense before government agencies providing oversight to the practice of medicine and dentistry. She also handles transactional and regulatory matters affecting healthcare providers. Ros routinely represents healthcare professionals before federal agencies, including Medicare, Office of Civil Rights, and Office of the Inspector General, and state agencies such as Department of Banking and Insurance, Attorney General’s Office, and Department of Health.

    Ros writes and lectures throughout New Jersey and New York on legal issues affecting healthcare professionals, such as over-prescribing of medications, inappropriate conduct of practitioners, general licensure, healthcare-related cybersecurity issues, fraud and abuse, medical records, HIPAA, and employment law.

    Ros earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2007 and her B.S. in biotechnology and nutrition from Rutgers University in 2003.

  • May 06, 2019David Vozza to Present at Onondaga County Medical Society’s Ask the Carriers Conference

    David N. Vozza, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present “How to Deal with Difficult Patients” at the Ask the Carriers Conference on Thursday, May 9, 2:35 – 3:05 p.m., at the Syracuse Holiday Inn in Liverpool, New York. The all-day event, hosted by the Onondaga County Medical Society, gives physicians and their staff an opportunity to ask questions of local insurance carrier representatives and to learn about their new policies or programs.     Lana Ros, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., presented “Legal Implications of Prescribing CDS: What Every Physician Should Know” at a seminar hosted by the Camden County and Burlington County Medical Societies, Tuesday, April 2, at the Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield.

    Ros discussed the regulations limiting the prescribing of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) for acute pain and those governing the prescribing of CDS for chronic pain; problem areas in prescribing CDS; and necessary safety measures.
