    The law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., is pleased to announce that attorneys David N. Vozza and Svetlana (Lana) Ros, Members of the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group, have become counsel to the following medical societies in New York.  The firm is proud and honored to have been named Legal Counsel to:

    • The American Academy of Pediatrics Chapter #1 NY
    • The Medical Societies of the Counties of Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Chenango, Oswego, Cayuga, and St. Lawrence

    Each agreement has a two-year term, during which the firm will be responsible for the day-to-day legal representation of the societies themselves, as well as handling all member questions and inquiries.  The firm’s wide array of legal specialties will enable it to handle not only healthcare law issues, but other legal issues as needed.     David Vozza, a Member of the law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present at the Medical Society of the State of New York’s (MSSNY) Fifth and Sixth Districts Retreat on Saturday, October 28.

    Vozza will present on Hospital Privileges during the two-day annul retreat being held at The Beeches Inn and Conference Center in Rome, NY.  The theme of this year’s retreat is “Challenge and Opportunities for Physician Leaders.” To learn more about the MSSNY, visit their website at

    Vozza defends health care professionals in connection with disciplinary and regulatory actions before federal and state agencies, private and government payor audits, civil and criminal fraud investigations, hospital and privileges disputes, and general healthcare litigation in both federal and state courts. He also regularly defends health care professionals before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct and the Office of Professional Discipline.  Vozza frequently lectures at hospitals throughout New York State regarding medical fraud, regulatory agencies, professional licensure, and medical documentation.   He earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and his B.A. at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

  • Oct 13, 2017Matthew Sorrentino to Speak at International Street Medicine Conference

    Matthew R. Sorrentino, Esq., Chairman and Managing Partner of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will speak at the 13th Annual International Street Medicine Conference sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Health Network.  The conference, to be held in Allentown from Wednesday, October 18, to Saturday, October 21, is open to all audiences.  Sorrentino will present “Volunteer Considerations Regarding Street Medicine.”  The presentation will include whether an employee of a private non-profit can perform volunteer services for the employer, whether students or other non-employees can perform volunteer services for a non-profit, whether volunteers are covered by workers’ compensation insurance, and what the rules and regulations are pertaining to dispensing medication on the street.  For more information about the conference, contact Hilda Rivera, MPH, CHES, at 610-969-2430 or via email at

    Sorrentino focuses his practice on healthcare, general corporate and business law, and real estate law.  He serves as Lehigh County Solicitor, managing a staff of 18 full- and part-time staff attorneys for the county.  Sorrentino is outside counsel to Lehigh Valley Health Network, the region’s largest health-care provider and employer; Health Network Laboratories, a regional clinical laboratory with annual revenue of more than $100 million; Lehigh Valley Physician Group, a multi-specialty, nonprofit physician practice with more than 600 physicians; and Anchor Health Properties, LLC, a national developer of innovative facilities dedicated to health and wellness.  Sorrentino and his wife, Ronnie, are Co-Chairs of the President’s Society of Lehigh Valley Health Network.  He earned his J.D. from Villanova University and his A.B. from Muhlenberg College.

  • Nov 15, 2016Charles Bruder to Present “Re-Defining Value in Healthcare: Evolution or Revolution?” 

    Charles A. Bruder, a Member of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present on Affordable Care Act updates at the Lehigh Valley Association of Healthcare Office Managers annual meeting on Thursday, December 8 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bear Creek Mountain Resort & Conference Center in Macungie, Pennsylvania.

    Bruder will recap what has happened so far and discuss the implications for employer-sponsored health plans in terms of their effect on healthcare providers, such as physicians and healthcare office managers.

    Bruder, who concentrates his practice in the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation, is co-chair of the Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Group at Norris McLaughlin, P.A.. Bruder is experienced in all aspects of defined contribution and defined benefit plans, deferred compensation arrangements, stock option plans, employee stock ownership plans, and other incentive and equity-based compensation arrangements. He frequently counsels clients on plan qualification and administration issues, ERISA fiduciary matters, plan compliance issues, and employee benefits matters in the context of business reorganizations.  In addition, Bruder is knowledgeable in the handling of group health plans, cafeteria plans, and other health and welfare benefits arrangements. He is a frequent lecturer on employee benefits and has published articles in The Exempt Organizations Tax Review and New Jersey Law Journal and has been quoted in The Hedge Fund Law Report. Bruder received his LL.M., with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from Widener University School of Law, and his B.A. from LaSalle University.

    Burt Allen Solomon, a member of the law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will showcase his gelatin-silver black and white photographs of Israel, taken between 1968 and 2009, at an exhibit entitled “Israel Seen (In Part).” The exhibit will benefit and take place at PEF Israel Endowments Funds, Inc. in New York.

    The non-profit organization enables the direct distribution of funds to selected and approved charitable organizations in Israel. Areas of support include, but are not limited to: primary and secondary education; supporting scientific research; promoting greater tolerance and understanding between religious and secular communities and between Arabs and Jews; the special needs of women, children and families in distress; special education and education for the gifted; veterans programs; drug abuse; promotion of the arts; and relief for the handicapped.
