Rising Stars

  • Sep 26, 2018Timothy Klimpl Named Among New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars

    Timothy S. Klimpl, an Associate of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., has been included in the New York Metro Rising Stars® 2018 Edition.  Only two and a half percent of New York attorneys are given this honor, which recognizes lawyers age 40 and under or who have been practicing for fewer than 10 years.

    New York Metro Rising Stars, a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement, is published in Super Lawyers Magazine.  The rigorous selection process combines peer nominations and evaluations with third-party validation of professional accomplishments.  The magazine, which features the list and profiles of selected attorneys, is distributed to attorneys in the state or region and to ABA-accredited law school libraries.  Super Lawyers is also published as a special section in leading city and regional magazines across the country.  In the United States, Super Lawyers Magazine is published in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., reaching more than 13 million readers.

    Klimpl has advised on numerous collectively-bargained, multiemployer, and governmental employee benefit plans, and helps clients devise cost-effective approaches to creating and sustaining compliant organizations. He advises clients in a range of issues including ERISA compliance, the Pension Protection Act, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ACA investigations, COBRA, HIPAA, tax qualification requirements under the Internal Revenue Code for employee benefit plans, preparation of benefit determination notices, and the IRS Voluntary Correction Program (VCP) for retirement plans under the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS).

    Klimpl has reviewed and interpreted collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and drafted CBA language relating to employer funding obligations under the Pension Protection Act and tax provisions under the ACA. He also prepares employee handbooks and advises employers regarding wage and hour laws, anti-discrimination statutes, and employment agreements; engages in corporate formation; and applies for and obtains federal tax-exempt status for non-profit organizations.

    Klimpl represents senior-level employees in the negotiation of their employment and severance packages and all associated agreements, including evaluation of wrongful termination claims.  His successful work for clients includes employment and post-employment compensation, health coverage and COBRA issues, confidentiality, non-compete, non-solicitation, and benefits and protections within the structures and strategies for those packages.

    Klimpl received his J.D. from New York Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Syracuse University. He is a member of the American, New York State, and Connecticut Bar Associations.

    Attorneys of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., Saleem M. Mawji, S. Graham Simmons, III, and Julie M. Macomb, have been selected for inclusion in the Pennsylvania Rising Stars® 2018 Edition. Only two-and-a-half percent of Pennsylvania attorneys are given this honor, which recognizes lawyers aged 40 and under or who have been practicing for fewer than 10 years. No more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.

    A resident of Orefield, Mawji devotes his practice primarily to complex commercial litigation matters including shareholder disputes, construction disputes, contract enforcement, government investigations. He has represented businesses of all sizes, including some of the Lehigh Valley’s largest companies, in state and federal court. He represents clients at all stages of the legal process, from depositions and judicial conferences to trial, using his extensive litigation experience to advise companies on how to avoid unnecessary litigation, and frequently negotiates settlements. Mawji’s understanding of best practices in electronic discovery allows him to assist clients with managing electronic documents and producing them during discovery. A 2014 graduate of Lehigh Valley Leadership, Saleem is a member of the Board of Associates of Lehigh Valley Health Network, Muhlenberg College, and of the Board of Community Bike Works, and is a Member of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce. He is a past board member of the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley and of the Steering Committee of the Philadelphia Young Lawyer’s Division of the American Bar Association’s White Collar Crime Committee. He has been recognized as a Rising Star since 2015. Mawji earned his J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law in 2005, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Muhlenberg College in 2002.

    A resident of the Lehigh Valley, Simmons practices primarily in the areas of business law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and land use, banking and financial services, and health care law.  He was recognized as a Rising Star in 2008, and every year since 2013. He was honored in 2013 as one of the Lehigh Valley Business’s Top 40 Under 40, which recognizes young professionals who exhibit talent and promise and have a well-documented track record of achievements in business.  Simmons is the Solicitor to the City of Easton Parking Authority. An active member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, Simmons has previously served as a committee member and youth leader.  He currently a Board member for the Greater Easton Development Partnership (GEDP), the State Theatre in Easton and the Greater Valley YMCA, is a former Chair of the GEDP Board and also having served on the boards of the Easton Area Chamber of Commerce and Renew Lehigh Valley.  Simmons earned his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Villanova University School of Law in 2004, and his B.A. from Roanoke College in 2001.

    A resident of Allentown, Macomb devotes her practice to business law, healthcare law and real estate law.  She is actively involved in the day-to-day legal counseling of businesses, formation of business entities, general contract matters, corporate restructurings, and shareholder disputes.  In her health care practice, Macomb works with hospitals and their affiliated corporations, physician groups, clinical laboratories, medical staffs, nursing homes, and other long-term care facilities.  Her real estate practice is focused on commercial lending issues as well as commercial leasing, and acquisition, zoning, and disposition of commercial, residential, industrial, and retail properties. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Main Street Program, the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Commercial Real Estate for Women, and is on the Board of Directors of Community Music School and the Board of Managers of The Bach Choir of Bethlehem. Macomb earned her J.D., magna cum laude from Widener University School of Law in 2013, and her B.A., from University of Maryland, magna cum laude in 2010.
