The New York office of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., welcomes new Member C. Bruce Hamburg to its Intellectual Property Group.

A registered U.S. patent attorney, Hamburg handles all aspects of U.S. patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition and internet law. He has handled the filing and prosecution of thousands of patent and trademark applications. He has successfully prosecuted patent applications of major international corporations in a vast variety of technologies, including heavy machinery, biotechnology, polymers, organic and inorganic chemistry, complex mechanical and electromechanical devices and systems, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, materials science, control devices and systems.
He is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for both the Southern District and Eastern District of New York. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as the Federal Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals. Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Hamburg was the managing and majority partner of the Intellectual Property boutique law firm Jordan and Hamburg, LLP, in New York, NY. Bruce began his career as an examiner in the U.S. Patent Office, where he received Superior Performance Awards.
Hamburg is the author of two treatises: “Patent Fraud and Inequitable Conduct”; and “The Doctrine of Equivalents in the U.S.,” one edition of which was published in Japanese and a subsequent edition in Korean. He is an author or co-author of several annual editions of the Patent Law Handbook, and is the U.S. representative for the periodical Patents and Licensing. He has also been a contributing editor to the compendium Patents Throughout the World.
Hamburg earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now a part of NYU) and his J.D. from George Washington University. Bruce is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering academic honor society, and Omega Chi Epsilon, the chemical engineering academic honor society.
