    Bruce Wisotsky Presents to NJ Association of Public Accountants

    Bruce J. Wisotsky, Member of Bridgewater-based law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., will present "How the Accountant Can Assist Counsel in a Chapter 11 Reorganization Case" to the Essex-Hudson-Union Chapter of the NJ Association of Public Accountants on Tuesday, October 3.  This seminar, part of the Association’s Fall Series of Seminars, has been approved for two CPE & CE credits.

    The presentation will cover the initial interview with the debtor; voluntary Chapter 11 petition; employment and compensation of professionals; debtor-in-possession; conversion or dismissal;  appointment of a Chapter 11 trustee; responsibilities of DIP/trustee; small business Chapter 11 cases; use, sale, or lease of property of the estate; and financing the DIP business operations – cash collateral and use of credit.  Also discussed will be Section 341 meetings, creditors committee, executory contracts, exclusivity period to file plan, negotiating the plan – liquidation or reorganization, the structure of the plan and disclosure statement, confirmation of the plan, and post confirmation issues.

    A resident of Roseland, Wisotsky represents debtors, creditors’ committees, equity committees, trustees, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 and 7 bankruptcy proceedings.  He has litigated a wide variety of bankruptcy and commercial issues during his career, including contract and lien validity disputes, actions to recover preferential transfers, fraudulent conveyance claims, and non-dischargeability of debt actions.

    Wisotsky has lectured on bankruptcy issues before the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, Turnaround Management Association, and Essex County Bar Association.  Addressing topics including prosecution and defense of preference actions, treatment of tax claims in bankruptcy proceedings, and retention bonus issues.  He is also on the United States Bankruptcy Court's approved list of mediators.

    Wisotsky is a member of the New Jersey Regional Advisory Board of the Anti-Defamation League, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Turnaround Management Association.  He also served as an officer and counsel to Help Darfur Now, a non-profit corporation that raised funds to purchase food and medical supplies for refugees in the Darfur region of Sudan.  He received his B.A. from Temple University and his J.D. from Temple University School of Law.
