SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerville law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A. is pleased to announce that member Jeanne Hamburg's article “Marking Your Turf” was published in the July issue of Colored Stone magazine.

Given the competitive climate of the jewelry industry, copyrights and trademarks are important ways for manufacturers and retailers to set themselves apart in the marketplace. The article discusses the ins and outs of the laws that protect the jewelry design or brand of designers and/or manufacturers.

Colored Stone is a bimonthly, international trade magazine that covers all facets of the colored gemstone industry, including new sources for colored gemstones, mining and processing, manufacturing, retail sales, consumer buying trends, marketing and promotion, gem cutting and jewelry design, and technological developments pertaining to the trade.

A resident of Scarsdale, New York, Hamburg has expertise in all aspects of copyright and trademark law, both in litigation and in the transactional area. She enforces her clients’ IP rights and litigates her clients’ cases through trial. She has particular expertise in representing jewelry clients as well as others for whom IP is a valuable asset.

In the transactional area, Hamburg is experienced in trademark and copyright licensing, traditional print and online publishing, software development, web site development, content licenses and electronic subscriptions. She counsels clients on all intellectual property facets of mergers and acquisitions. She is expert in copyright and trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement.

Hamburg is a frequent speaker and writer on intellectual property topics. She earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1990, where she was a member and editor of the Columbia Law Review, and her B.A., magna cum laude, in English from Wellesley College in 1987. She is a member of the Committee on Enhancing Diversity in the Profession of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the International Trademark Association (Membership Committee, 2001-03; Contributing Editor, Trademark Basics E-Learning Program and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board E-Learning Program (ongoing online courses); Chairman and Contributing Editor, Legal Ethics and Professionalism for Trademark Practitioners (ongoing online courses)).
