Mo Bauer Participates in Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey Bench Bar Conference

Morris S. Bauer, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., joined a panel of judges and prestigious attorneys on April 23 to present at the 2021 Honorable William H. Gindin Bench Bar Conference hosted by the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. Bauer’s panel provided a discussion on the “Ins and Outs of Confirming a Chapter 11 Plan: How to Confirm a Chapter 11 Plan Whether Individual, Complex, Small Business or Subchapter V.”

“To have been selected as a presenter with the judges and other presenting attorneys is both a pleasure and an honor. I look forward to continuing my work with the ABFNJ,” said Bauer, who addressed feasibility and best interests of creditors test.

About the Bench Bar Conference

This all-day virtual conference included two roundtable discussions with the New Jersey Federal Bench and judges from the New Jersey Bankruptcy Bench. Discussion topics included Bankruptcy appeals to the District Court and the Third Circuit; current legal and court operational issues from the perspective of the Bankruptcy Judges; recent Subchapter V cases; recent bankruptcy case decisions; negotiation of Mortgage Forbearance Agreements; the influence of a more conservative Supreme Court will have on bankruptcy cases; Chapter 13 update; defenses to litigation concerning COVID-19 such as force majeure, impossibility of contract, and frustration of contractual purpose; and business insurance legislation and landlord/tenant considerations regarding Chapter 11.

About Mo Bauer

A resident of Long Valley, Bauer is a member of the Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Group at Norris McLaughlin. He represents debtors, creditor committees, banks, and other secured creditors, trade creditors, and landlords in Chapter 11 proceedings. Bauer has also been appointed by the Court as a Chapter 11 trustee, a liquidating trustee, an assignee for the benefit of creditors, and a bankruptcy mediator.

In addition to his bankruptcy practice, Bauer has represented banks and equipment lenders in commercial foreclosure and commercial collection matters. He has been an instructor for the New Jersey Skills and Methods Course and the New Jersey Bankruptcy Inn of Court, and a panelist for the annual New Jersey Bankruptcy Bench-Bar Conference, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and local bar associations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Bauer has been involved in civic activities as a corporate advisory board member of Homeless Solutions, Inc.; and a board member of Team for Kids Foundation, Inc., a non-profit that provides funding for children of low-income families to play team sports. He is Vice-Chairman of the Washington Township, Morris County Zoning Board of Adjustment, and has served as President of the Jewish Center of Northwest Jersey.

Bauer is included in the Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law section of the current edition of The Best Lawyers in America and the Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights section of New Jersey Super Lawyers, including selection to the 2019 New Jersey Super Lawyers Top 100. He earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and his B.S. from Dickinson College.
