Norris McLaughlin Supports Cops ‘N Kids Literacy Program

The law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A. and Barbara L. Hollenbach, a Member of the firm, were sponsors of the 13th Annual Cops ‘n’ Kids Celebration of Reading … and the Arts and Sciences event Saturday, April 27. The firm has been a supporter of Cops ‘n’ Kids since its inception and Hollenbach regularly volunteers at the annual Celebration of Reading as well as other events.

The Celebration offered unlimited free entertainment, activities, and food and drinks. This year’s Celebration was themed “The March to the Millionth” in honor of the program being on track to reach its one-millionth free book to be given away by the end of the summer.

Cops ‘n’ Kids is a children’s literacy program with an initiative that pairs area youth with new and gently used books generated through book drives and donations from local businesses, schools, individuals, and others in the community who help to ensure every child has access to books. “I’ve been involved with Cops ‘n’ Kids since it began and supporting its mission to Connect Kids and Community through Literacy has been fun and rewarding. With more than 930,000 books distributed to date, I look forward to being a part of reaching the one-millionth milestone,” said Hollenbach.

Hollenbach focuses her practice on workers’ compensation, professional liability, products liability, and general litigation.

She was the first woman elected president of the Northampton County Bar Association. A past chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Law Section, she has been certified as a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Section on Workers’ Compensation Law, as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. In 2013, Hollenbach was inducted as a Fellow of The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. She has been named one of Pennsylvania’s Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers for several years, most recently in 2018, and has co-authored and co-presented the Pennsylvania Bar Institute Workers’ Compensation Practice & Procedures manual and course since 2000.

Hollenbach is an active community volunteer. She is Chair of the Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites Board of Trustees.  She has also served on the boards and has been president of numerous organizations, including Quota International of Bethlehem and the YWCA of Bethlehem.

Hollenbach earned her J.D., cum laude, from Dickinson School of Law in 1978, and her B.A., with highest distinction, from Pennsylvania State University in 1975
