Raymond G. Lahoud, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., and Chair of its Immigration Law Practice Group, will present “Crimmigration” on Wednesday, June 24, 1:40 – 2:00 p.m., for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NJICLE) annual program, “2020 U.S. Immigration Law: Basics & Beyond,” hosted by the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Immigration Law Section.
“For years, I have been honored to be included in this program. My discussion this year is on 'crimmigration,' a specialized focus within the practice of immigration law that involves the growing and complex intersections with the federal and state criminal justice systems,” said Lahoud.
The full-day webcast, 9:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m., typically held at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick, has been converted to a virtual platform due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This program is designed for those who want an immigration update or refresher and for those who wish to have a basic understanding of immigration practice and procedure. Presenters will address the basics of immigration practice, including how to obtain Nonimmigrant and Immigrant Visas and how to handle employment and family-based immigration matters; and provide an update on the Trump Administration’s immigration initiatives and its efforts to shift the immigration structure from a family-based to a merit-based system, as well as the recent changes affecting asylum and refugee applications.
