I-9 Compliance: What Restaurant Operators Need to Know Webinar
New York restaurants, like all U.S. companies, regardless of size, industry, or location, must properly and fully complete a Form I-9 for every new employee hired. Over the past several years, the Department of Homeland Security has increased its efforts to enforce these rules, conducting audits of companies and charging fines that frequently run into the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, depending upon the size of the business.
In this webinar, attendees will learn:
- How to establish written I-9 policies and ensure proper completion of regulatory forms
- How to properly verify and record appropriate identification documentation
- How businesses can avoid any discriminatory hiring practices
- What employers should do if they discover I-9 issues within their company, as well as how to respond to notices of inspection by the US government agency to avoid or reduce hefty fines
