Justice Society Reception
SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerville law firm of Norris McLaughlin, P.A. was recognized for participating in the Anti-Defamation League’s inaugural Summer Associate Research Program at the Justice Society Reception held on October 25, 2007.
The Summer Associate Research Program provides law firm summer associates the opportunity to complete pro bono legal research projects on cutting edge civil rights issues. Summer associates are supervised by partners within their firms and consult with ADL’s staff attorney, and their work product is a critical source for ADL’s advocacy year-round.
Two Norris McLaughlin, P.A. Summer Associates, Aaron T. Duff and Chris Elko, participated in the program. Duff’s research was on free speech in the public school context, where he analyzed the Supreme Court’s recent opinion in the case of Morse v. Frederick and its effect on Tinker v. Des Moines School District. Elko analyzed justified protection under the Title VII anti-retaliation provision, as applied in Jordan v. Alternative Resources Corp.
“The firm is proud to support the historic mission of the ADL to fight discrimination. The Summer Associate Research Program is an excellent way of exposing law school students to many of the current legal issues associated with this mission,” stated Bruce Wisotsky, a member of the firm and the New Jersey Regional Advisory Board of the ADL.
