Norris McLaughlin, P.A. will be presenting a breakfast seminar entitled “2011 Benefits/HR Update: Healthcare Reform, 401k Fee Disclosure and Health Plan Benchmarking” on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Norris McLaughlin, P.A.’ Bridgewater office from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Charles A. Bruder, a Member of the firm and Co-Chair of its Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Group, and Scott Rappoport, CLU, ChFC, RHU, CEBS, Chief Executive Officer of Benefit Sources & Solutions, will address several areas of potential concern for employers.
The seminar is for human resources professionals, CEOs, and CFOs with primary responsibility for employee benefits issues. The seminar will cover new fee disclosure regulations for retirement plan fiduciaries, which impact all retirement plans under ERISA and take effect on July 16, 2011; an update on healthcare reform, including the many regulations, changes and clarifications coming from the Department of Health & Human Services; and health plan benchmarking, discussing what other employers are doing to combat the rising cost of medical insurance. Bruder, a resident of Lumberton, concentrates his practice in the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation.
Bruder is experienced in all aspects of defined contribution and defined benefit plans, deferred compensation arrangements, stock option plans, employee stock ownership plans, and other incentive and equity-based compensation arrangements. He frequently counsels clients in the area of plan qualification and administration issues, ERISA fiduciary matters, plan compliance issues, and employee benefits matters in the context of business reorganizations. In addition, Bruder is knowledgeable in the handling of group health plans, cafeteria plans, and other health and welfare benefits arrangements.
Prior to commencing his legal career, Bruder was a senior tax consultant for a “Big 5” accounting firm, providing tax consulting and financial planning services primarily to corporate executives and high net-worth individuals.
Bruder is a frequent lecturer in the area of employee benefits and has previously published articles in The Exempt Organizations Tax Review and the New Jersey Law Journal. He has also been quoted in The Hedge Fund Law Report.
Bruder received his B.A. in 1991 from LaSalle University, his J.D. in 1996 from Widener University School of Law and his LL.M., with distinction, in 1997 from Georgetown University Law Center.
